Recently at Waterford Kettering High School two new hall monitors have been added into the Kettering community: Jennifer Wright and Robert Greg. These two hall monitors have been given the task to ensure the safety of students.

Wright is a 36 year old female who was born in Waterford. When Wright was younger she attended Kettering as a student.

“I was class of 2005,” said Wright.

Wright was pushed to be a part of the Waterford community by her mom who is a school bus driver for the Waterford school district.

“She actually wanted me to become a bus driver,” Wright said. “But I cannot deal with screaming kids on the bus while driving, I don’t know how she does it.”

Robert Greg, some may know him as ‘Santa’ is the second new hall monitor to Waterford Kettering. He is 65 years old and currently lives in Waterford, Glen Blank. The reason Greg joined Waterford kettering is because he has nothing better to do.

“I would rather be up and about, then being at home watching tv without a purpose,,” Greg said. “The kids want me to be Santa, I have been, and I plan to be again.”

Greg, Wright and Jackie are all becoming friends with each other.

“I would say me and Greg are friends,” says Wright. “Although I love Mrs. Jackie, she’s awesome.”

However Greg says they are becoming friends. Greg and Wright were both informed about the hall monitor position at Kettering through the Oakland Schools website. Wight and Greg both enjoy their jobs very much as Hall monitors at Kettering.

“I enjoy the job, I like wandering the halls,” Wright said. “ It’s all nostalgic for me.”
Many staff and students enjoy the new hall monitors at Kettering.

Kelly Birr who is an office secretary at Waterford Kettering says, “They are very nice and they have been very helpful.”

Some background information about the hall monitors is that Wright is a mom of one son. While
Greg has two step daughters, one daughter and nine grandkids.

Greg comes to school with his motorcycle, or what he calls his bike.

“Don’t touch the Harley,” Greg says.

Recently at Waterford there has been notice that a former Hall monitor has gone missing, Bryce Neal. It is official that Neal went to the police academy.

“He was always more than just a hall monitor,” Harwood said. “He was a jack of all traits, he knew where everything was. If we needed any help he was the one to look for.”

Neal was a friend, a leader, someone to look up to at kettering.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Harwood says. “However, we are glad he was here with us.”

Although Neal has his own reason for leaving Waterford Kettering.

“Neal is a Kettering graduate,” Harwood says.” He is currently in college right now. Becoming a police officer has always been a dream of his.”
